Also known as Stepney Cemetery, the cemetery is located next to the Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel just off Route 25.
There is a white lady who appears in this cemetery. She is also said to appear in a nearby cemetery, Union Cemetery in Easton, CT. She has been seen many times at both cemeteries over the last 70+ years. Some believe she is a lady named Mrs. Knot, whose husband was murdered in the 1940’s. She is said to have been murdered shortly after his funeral. Has she returned to find him. She seems to have not much luck so far since she is still hanging around.
There was a report of a fireman actually “running over” her in his truck one night. I can’t imagine what that must have been like. Some people have said they saw dark, shadowy figures grabbing at the white lady as she wanders around the cemetery.
One of the world’s most famous ghost hunters is buried in this cemetery. The great Ed Warren, who passed away in 2006, gained fame along with his wife by giving lectures about the paranormal and doing many psychic investigations throughout their long career.
